A few more Oscar bites

So, I signed off from my last post after an hour of carousing pictures of all the Oscar's finest looks, and picking out a few that I liked, and disliked. The problem is, I don't think I am done with the Oscar's yet! Here are a few more bits and bites that I couldn't resist commenting on.

Helen Mirren
After I received a comment on how beautiful Helen Mirren looked, I just can't resist putting in my two cents. Every time I see this woman, she always seems to live up to my expectations! Her gown is just gorgous on her, and completely plays up her skin tone and hair colour. Everything about this look works. She looks absolutely stunning.

Cate Blanchett
Oh Cate Blanchett, although I applaud you for taking a risk on a somewhat "futuristic" look, I happen to hate it. Unfortunately this dress reminds me of a breast plate from a suit of armor, so it looks as if you are about to go fight somebody! The sleeves are just awful, adding to the armor affect, and making an otherwise feminine physique seem boxy. As for the hair, I think the colour goes quite nicely with the pale pink of the dress, but I may have expected something a little more for an event such as the glamorous Oscar's.
Jennifer Hudson

First of all, let me start off by saying, wow! Look at her body! Jennifer Hudson has totally transformed since we first laid eyes on her, and she looks amazing! I love the that her tanned skin makes the colour of this gown pop, and with the high collar, it shows off her newly toned shoulders. The hair though, is not my favorite of the night. I think the style, smooth and sleek, does balance out the dress being that there is lots of fabric, but the volume on the one side of the part is a little too high, making it seem unbalanced. Overall though, beautiful look, classy with some edge - suits her!
Nicole Kidman

I was chatting with my boss today about Nicole Kidman's hair. Neither of us really liked it, and I think the main reason is because it seems like she is about to go for a run, not go to an awards night. I like that her hair is up with this gown, but the hair could have been dressed up by adding some volume in her pony tail (a la Reese Witherspoon) or fancying up the bangs by pinning them back, or sweeping them with a little more volume.

Okay, I think the Oscar's are out of my system now, blog ya later!
